Answers to common questions below...

Who can play?

You can play this game together with your family, friends or work colleagues.  Team size has a minimum of 2 participants and we recommend no bigger than 7 per themed environment at any one time.  Any guests under the age of 16 must have and adult over the age of 18 to supervise them throughout the experience and I.D must be required.

Corporate packages including meet, eat and play options are also available. Contact us for more information.

What age do you have to be? / I have family under the age of 12 - Can they take part too?

For groups of the same age we have an advisory age of 12+ listed on our website and promotional material but ultimately it is down to the parents if they feel a group under the age of 12 will manage in there.   Throughout the whole experience we are in radio communication with the group and are able to give clues and hints to the games and so can help with any of the challenges as required.

Any team under the age of 16 will require supervision from someone over the age of 18 who is required to be present at all times but that person does not have to go into the experience with the team if they do not want to as they can supervise from reception via out CCTV system.

For families or groups with mixed ages within the team we do not have a minimum age and have seen families play our experiences with members of the team who are under the age of 12 years old.

Why should I join in this game?

We offer you an experience different from any other classic group activity; you can find the opportunity to test your concentration, observation, problem solving and decision making competencies and, you will have great fun along the way!

Are there any games/films similar to this activity?

The Silent Hill is one of the great examples for computer games in finding hidden things or solving puzzles. In addition to TV shows such as The Crystal Maze and The Cube, the films such as; the Cube, Saw and the Room of Fermat also cover the same concept.

How difficult is the game?

The game is designed to be completed in 60 minutes or less by concentration and solving the puzzles. You do not need any special talent other than using your brain and acting fast. This, however, does not necessarily mean that everybody can finish the game! The more Escape Experiences you take part in, the better you will become at hunting for clues and solving puzzles.  Although be warned! Just because you have played an Escape Experience Theme in one of our locations before, doesn’t mean you will be faced with the same puzzles and clues on your next visit. Our high-tech show control system picks the puzzles at the start of each new game, keeping it challenging for all.

What is the dress code?

We recommend trainers and comfortable clothes.

Some of the themes may require you to find clues on your hands and knees or crawl through spaces so wearing your best clothes and lots of jewellery is not advised!

We would also recommend that you bring the least amount of belongings and accessories as possible with you in order to move comfortably and fast during the game.   We do not allow mobile phones, tablets or any other recording devices within the themed experience and ask that they are placed in the baggage storage area or stored safely under our main reception desk during game play.  Any guest caught recording or using their phone during the experience will automatically end the experience for all of their team.  All items left on site during game play are left at your own risk.

Disabilities and wheel chair access:

Escape Challenge welcomes visits by people with disabilities and will do everything possible to ensure a safe and pleasurable experience.  Since opening our Redditch Escape Challenge we have been taking steps to ensure the building and facilities can accommodate all and include accessible facilities such as a disabled toilet and are looking to ensure as many of our themes are accessible to all as possible.
However, certain themes installed at sites can be physically demanding and vigorous and may include sections such as crawl spaces, assault courses or low doors.  Where the location permits and room is available an alternative route will be offered but with some themes only sections of the experiences may be accessible to guests who require a wheel chair, walking aid or guests that suffer with any back problems.   Escape Challenge welcome a pre-booking inspection (arranged by appointment) of any of our themes should you want to make sure it is suitable before booking.
Redditch Themes:
Tomb Challenge  – The tomb challenge theme is based on a ancient Egyptian theme and as such the room theme includes a sand covered floor, darkness,  crawl spaces, loud noises and flashing/strobing lighting at points during the experience.  Although the initial room is accessible by wheel chair and guests who may need any walking aids the secondary room is only accessible via a crawl space.   Games and challenges are split equally between the rooms and all clues to solve the puzzles in the second room are based in the first room. So although we advertise the room as not suitable for those guests requiring a wheelchair, walking aid or who have any back problems there is still a large proportion of the game and challenges they are able to take part in within the first room.
Space Challenge: – The Space Challenge theme is based around a spaceship that has been in an accident and as such includes elements of flashing lighting, loud sirens, a mini assault course and access to the escape pod is via a low door. Although the initial room is accessible by wheel chair and guests who may need any walking aids the secondary section to the experience is only available via a mini assault course and low door.   Games and challenges are split between the rooms so although we advertise the room as not suitable for those guests requiring a wheelchair, walking aid or who have any back problems there is still a proportion of the game and challenges they are able to take part in within the first room.

Will it be safe?

Yes. All of our themes and show control are built by Being Creative Limited (http://www.beingcreative.net) who are professional themed attraction and show control specialists.  They have worked on a range of themed attractions and escape rooms in the past including theme parks such as Chessington World of Adventures, Drayton Manor Theme Park and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Although the themes vary, some more frightening than others, we can advise that none of the themes should cause any long term illness or damage.  Some of the themes do involve crawling or moving around confined spaces, darkness, smoke and strobe lighting so please contact us before booking if any of those may be an issue to any of your party.

Each Themed room has an Emergency Stop button (not part of the game play), should any team member need to exit in an emergency. Our trained staff are able to access all themed areas should they need to in an emergency.

In addition, real time monitoring and recording takes place in all of our themed experiences for the safety of any guest and staff members.

Approx 40 percent of groups get locked in during their first attempt and those that do escape do so in around 48 minutes on average...
